1.8.0 (2024-10-23)

iOS & iPadOS

tvOS

  • Added settings to alter the appearance of the subtitles.
  • Rough support for tracking progress when using external players (with support for x-callback-url).

iPhone & iPadOS

  • Addon subtitles are now grouped by addon if you have more than one subtitle addon.
  • Addon subtitles are now grouped by language and sorted.
  • Fixed a bug that made subtitles disappear after returning from picture-in-picture.
  • Improve addon resolution.
  • Improve addon configuration experience.

tvOS

  • Fixed a bug that made disabling subtitles not work.

1.7.1 (2024-10-09)

tvOS

Getting up to speed with iOS & iPadOS.

  • Added support for subtitle addons.
  • Added support for adjusting delay for subtitles.
  • Added language preference setting for Italian.
  • Added language preference setting for Polish.
  • Added language preference setting for Albanian.
  • Added language preference setting for Finnish.

1.7.1 (2024-10-04)

iOS & iPadOS

  • Added language preference setting for Italian.
  • Added language preference setting for Polish.
  • Added language preference setting for Albanian.
  • Added language preference setting for Finnish.

1.7.0 (2024-10-03)

iOS & iPadOS

  • Added support for subtitle addons.
  • Added support for adjusting delay for subtitles.
  • Fixed a bug that would keep the home indicator visible.

The change notes on the App Store include mention of several added preferred language settings. This was accidental.

1.6.1 (2024-10-01)

iOS & iPadOS

tvOS

  • Performance improvements in KSPlayer.
  • Added video diagnostics view if you want to see how your particular configuration handles certain loads. Available to toggle in the OS settings.

iPhone & iPadOS

  • Added support for Outplayer (external player).
  • Fixed a bug where links sometimes would repeat once.

1.6.0 (2024-09-26)

iOS & iPadOS

  • New default video player: KSPlayer. (VLC is still available as an option in the settings)
  • HDR10, HDR10+ and Dolby Vision
  • Dolby Atmos
  • Picture-in-picture (with subtitles)
  • Playback in external players Infuse and VLC (requires installing those apps)
  • Long press link to copy URL

There is a known bug with PiP that if you enter PiP with subtitles and exit PiP the subtitles will disappear.

1.5.2 (2024-09-23)

iOS & iPadOS

  • Hide status bar if player starts in landscape, not just after rotating to landscape.

1.5.1 (2024-09-23)

tvOS

  • Fix stuttering issues during playback.
  • Fix callback from external video player to open Vidi correctly.
  • Add addon titles to search result rows if more than one addon has search capability.

1.5.0 (2024-09-20)

tvOS

Only for tvOS as iOS/iPadOS doesn’t support multiple video players yet.

  • Added support for external player Infuse.
  • Added support for external player VLC.
  • Fixed bug where video player setting would not persist between sessions.

1.4.0 (2024-09-19)

iOS & iPadOS

tvOS

  • Rehauled ID handling. Should resolve many issues with mismatches between IDs in various addon configurations. This change will reflect pretty much everywhere in the app with ID resolution being a lot more dynamic.
  • Search using all search enabled addons.
  • Add support for proxy headers to KSPlayer playback. Some addons need this for playback. Unfortunately not supported in VLC Player since they don’t yet support adding headers.
  • More liberal conformity to content types which should allow lots of more addons to work now.
  • Fixed crash when removing last Up Next item.

Known issues:

  • A user might not want every addon with a search function to be used for every search. Maybe add the ability to toggle addon resources. For example, maybe the user only wants links from an addon that also provides search.
  • Player setting doesn’t save on tvOS. I feel that the additions in this update outweigh the negative and it would take another day or so to resubmit and have a new version reviewed so it’ll be fixed in the next version instead. This seems to be present in all versions of the app, it’s just not reported.
  • I forgot to add the addon name to search result rows on tvOS. I’ll add it in the next release. I’m thinking of adding an option to also show the name on the feed. It’s in the backlog.

1.3.0 never got released on tvOS because I submitted 1.4.0 before it got reviewed so for tvOS these changes also apply:

  • Default language selection option Dutch.
  • Default language selection option Hebrew.
  • Add crash reporting tool.
  • Add prompt to resume or start over content that has played to near completion.

1.3.0 (2024-09-16)

iOS & iPadOS

  • Default language selection option Dutch.
  • Default language selection option Hebrew.
  • Add crash reporting tool.
  • Add prompt to resume or start over content that has played to near completion.

iPadOS

  • Hide status bar when playing video on iPad in landscape.

1.2.0 (2024-09-09)

iOS & iPadOS

tvOS

First version of Vidi for tvOS released.

Release includes some fixes for iOS and iPadOS versions as well:

  • Fixed an issue on iOS 18 where the player would display an AirPlay icon, even though AirPlay is not yet supported.
  • Resolved a rare issue where duplicates of items like favorites and Up Next could appear when syncing over iCloud.
  • Fixed a bug where add-ons would generate more requests than necessary, causing errors like 429 or unnecessary traffic.

1.1.0 (2024-08-27)

iOS & iPadOS

  • CloudKit integration to sync between devices. This will sync progress, addons and favorites between devices. Not settings right now.
  • Arabic option default subtitle and audio track.
  • View and copy addon manifest URL in the settings.
  • Fixed image caching bug.

1.0.0 (2024-08-22)
